ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

DJ MIKU — DJ / Producer

Rooted in the sounds of 1980s New Wave, Electro, Techno, Hip Hop, and Disco,

DJ MIKU built his early career as a resident DJ at six clubs and discos across Tokyo.

In the early 1990s, he emerged from Tokyo’s underground scene,

becoming a key resident at the warehouse party KEY-ENERGY,

where he helped shape a new club culture defined by experimentation and raw energy.

In 1996, he founded NewStage Records,

followed by multiple independent labels including NS-COM,

releasing works by both Japanese and international artists.

Through his long-running residency at WOMB in Shibuya with the party CYCLONE,

as well as numerous festival appearances,

he established himself as a vital presence within Japan’s electronic music landscape.

In 2012, he launched the outdoor festival GLOBAL ARK,

alongside the label GLOBAL ARK RECORDING,

documenting and disseminating music born from the event.

Through curatorial vision and international network-building,

he continues to connect the Japanese scene with audiences worldwide.

His DJ sets extend far beyond conventional mixing.

He approaches performance as narrative construction across time,

meticulously placing click-driven textures, deep low frequencies, and delicate melodies.

Incorporating edits, original remixes, rare tracks, and live parameter manipulation,

he balances spontaneity with structural precision.

From peak-time club floors to outdoor listening sessions,

his sound remains unmistakably cohesive and immersive.

Today, he continues to perform actively at clubs, festivals, and art spaces

both in Japan and internationally,

while expanding his work through label management, compilation projects,

and the production and mentorship of emerging artists.

A transformative GOA outdoor party altered his life’s course, leading him to dance on Pha Ngan, in London, and Amsterdam. After returning to Japan he began DJing and producing while working at record shops.

He spent 15 years working at record stores in Tokyo, accumulating knowledge and experience, and afterward performed almost every weekend at clubs, outdoor parties, and festivals across the country; he released numerous records and CDs that nearly sold out.

During the three years of the COVID period he uploaded ten DJ mix videos to YouTube, earning strong praise, and in 2024 he released six new tracks on Bandcamp. He continues into 2025 with his passion for DJing, its preparations, and music production burning bright.

With a focus on techno and a versatile style that transcends genres, she navigates between minimal, experimental, leftfield, and deep house, captivating audiences at various techno and electronic music outdoor festivals such as rural and Paramount, as well as clubs across Japan. She’s played the supporting role for many international acts including Peter Van Hoesen, Voiski, and Anthony Linell, steadily solidifying her presence in the scene.

Her pursuit of immersive soundscapes, rich with both a sense of floatation and speed imbued with narrative, seamlessly harmonizes with the atmosphere of each venue, creating an organic psychedelic space.

NUTMEG(ALA/DJ/Composer)

She is a Tokyo-based DJ and composer whose one quarter American heritage informs a multilayered sensibility. Her sets, which blend the melodic poignancy of 90s trance with the textural depth of psychedelic techno, are characterized by deep, trippy textures, carefully designed dynamics, and build-ups that trace immersive sonic journeys, drawing audiences into sustained engagement. By employing airy pads and expansive reverb alongside recurring trance-tinged peaks, she moves listeners through waves of feeling, delivering prolonged experiences that extend beyond single moments of euphoria. She adapts dynamics and pacing to suit clubs, outdoor festivals, and other varied contexts, responding to each venue’s distinct energy.

She founded the ALA party and invests in curation and on-site production to create musical contexts. Through releases on European labels and collaborations with domestic and international artists, she actively fosters cross-border exchange and continually broadens her artistic scope. Drawing on experience across clubs, outdoor festivals, and self-run events, she offers holistic spatial direction that goes beyond mere track delivery.

Layering elements drawn from classic trance and contemporary techno, she reads the floor’s breath to alternate build and release, shaping shifting emotional landscapes in each moment and centering her practice on the act of transforming space.

Maruri

MARURI embodies the true lapis-blue star, expressing everything through sound. She works with the mission of dancing, praying, and honoring, and belongs to ALA’s team where she cares for artists and guests. Though new to DJing, she excels at warm, comforting sets that bring calm to the dance floor. A mother of three, she draws on broad life experience and is also an entrepreneur who manufactures and sells organic cosmetics, bringing meticulous care to both event operations and experience design.

LiaRako(ASTRAL)

Rooted in deep sounds, she seamlessly moves between hypnotic and organic textures, reading the atmosphere of the floor and shaping each moment into a fitting progression.

With over ten years of piano experience and a lifelong sensitivity to sound, she expresses her intuitive feelings through sound.
Her sets emphasize immersion, guiding the audience toward a state of deep consciousness beyond sound itself.
Since 2023, she has been hosting her own event, "ASTRAL" themed around deep × cosmic, further expanding her exploration of sound.

OtOdashi Sound System

They started his activities with a sound system around 2007. They has been trying to match the most suitable equipment for each party by utilizing the experience he has gained from the many sites he has participated in in the past. In order to make the most of the characteristics of the music itself, regardless of genre, the system is composed of equipment that can move between digital and analog circuits to accommodate a wide range of music. The highly expressive output sounded there becomes wave motion and shakes the space.
